The 5th PanAmerican Plant Membrane Biology Workshop
San Pedro de Atacama, Chile
June 1st-5th, 2015
What is the PanAm Membrane meeting?
The Pan American Plant Membrane Biology Workshop is held every three years to provide an opportunity for researchers in North and Latin America to present and discuss current topics in plant membrane biology. The workshop focuses on membrane structure, transport, protein trafficking, and signal transduction, as well as the techniques and approaches utilized in plant membrane studies. Sections are led by prominent researchers in the focus area with talks presented by postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers with extensive discussion periods following talks.
These are amongst the most exciting and vibrant meetings in plant biology and we are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Ariel Orellana (email@example.com) taking on the role of organizer for the 2015 meeting. The 2015 meeting was held in San Pedro de Atacama
San Pedro lies in northern Chile on the desert-like Altiplano, an arid high plateau aproximately 1700 km north of Santiago. It boasted amazing scenery, an enthralling history, breathtaking stargazing.
As announced at the meeting, NSF-funded travel fellowship applications are now available.
These funds are generously supplied by the US National Science Foundation and so are only available to US Citizens and Green-card holders.

Previous PAPMBW meetings
The first Workshop was held in 2003 in Cuernavaca, Mexico, the second in 2006 in South Padre, Texas, the third in 2009, in puebla, Mexico, and the fourth in 2012 in Asilomar, CA, with participants attending from the United States, Canada, Mexico, and many other Latin American countries. The 2015 meeting blended World-class science with the truly spectacular setting of San Pedro de Atacama in Chile. The 2018 meeting will be held in Canada and we will post more information as the meeting planning progresses.
